Kristina Valenkova explains why she decided to volunteer with Ingenuity Studio
I have recently started volunteering as an Ambassador at the Ingenuity Studio and will be supporting Scott (Studio facilitator) during the workshops that give students a flavour of what engineering is about and what they might expect while studying at NMiTE.
I have been following the developments of NMiTE since its inception and was exited to jump on the opportunity to become a part of it.
I have volunteered in the past and found it a very valuable experience particularly when changing career or learning a new skill. I’m on my final year of the Design and Innovation degree with the Open University and by joining the Ingenuity Studio I am able to put into practice what I’ve learned in my course.
NMiTE aims to bring design and technology together, disciplines which I always had an interest in, and they will be working with employers to create the curriculum. I find this approach inspiring as it will produce work ready engineers by engaging students with real life challenges.
